#FastingWeek, what is this? Is this what we have reduced prayer to? I know it is fashionable to hashtag but we must bear in mind that christianity and fashion don’t go hand in hand in so many times. Just because it’s fashionable to hashtag on social media, does not mean we now announce everything to the extent that we announce our intimate moments with God.

For somebody who thinks I’m crazy, let me ask you this question and bear with me if I sound otherwise; will it be proper to post very very sensitive and personal family stuff on Facebook? I guess not, prayer is between the person praying and God, actually Jesus taught about it on Matthew 6:5, “ and when you pray, do not be like hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father , who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Let’s keep prayer personal and enjoy the secluded time with God. Prayer and fasting is a form of worship let’s keep it Holy. Do not allow social media to change the godly principles.

#FastingWeek/Month is merely a public Stunt!
