At times I ask myself if I really believe that God is able to do the impossible in my life or I just say it without really believing that He can do it for me. As Christians, faith is one of the fundamentals of our relationship with God but do I really believe that my circumstance will change when I pray, or I try to see if God will answer my prayer. Is faith a Christian custom which we embrace with our mouths and in our hearts we are saying something else.

I have seen in my life where I would say, I believe God will perform a certain miracle in my life but in my heart I doubt if God will be able to do it. I will be thinking He will do it but it cannot be now, this is just too major to be done now. As if God needs time to work it out. I do not know maybe I am an alien and this only happens to me. By doubting God’s ability to perform a miracle in my life I am doubting the ability of God to create. God created the universe out of nothing, He just spoke a word and there was. Our problem is that even after creation we doubt because we cannot see with our eyes. The trees did not appear immediately during creation when God declared because there was no rain yet to wet the ground for germination, but God believed and knew that the vegetation will appear and He saw that it was good even before His eyes could perceive it in the natural, that is faith!

Genesis 1:11 Then God said, let the land produce vegetation: seed bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds” and it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 2:5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground.

We need to change our mind-set as far as faith is concerned, maybe that is why we pray many prayers but we see only a few answers. We say we believe yet we doubt. We believe there are certain things that we can ask God for and others He will not be able to do. Why do we limit God yet we proclaim our undying faith on Him? Some Christians can even go to an extent of saying, “AIDS is incurable, how can we say God can heal AIDS?” if then we say that, then something will be impossible for God and God will not be all powerful. Let us be careful of what we say because many times we denounce the power of God. The Christians are at the forefront of discrediting the power of God, so now how can the non-believers believe in the God of impossibilities if we do not believe.

We need to go back to the drawing board, if need arise throw away the doctrines and start believing that God can do it. The devil cannot do greater things than God, why do we always doubt when God tries to mesmerize us with His power? Also why do we pray when we doubt, is not that a waste of time?

My God is able to do exceedingly and above that which I could think of! The bible clearly states that, ” Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work with us.” Ephesians 3:20
