It is people like Ndiko that always make me realize that nobody can contain God in a box and nobody can ever say I know how God operates. He does things beyond our imagination and he uses people we least expect to advance his divine mission! Ndiko Muzila is one extra ordinary young woman whom I strongly believe the world is yet to behold God’s majestic works through her life. To you my sister, I say you are one in a million may you continue to bring the light of God in the darkest places of our hearts and hope to the hopeless. Here is to a little peep through to an extraordinary life; Be inspired!
WHO IS NDIKO IN A NUTSHELL?
Ndiko is a young woman whose vision is to transform lives for the better and to be a voice to the voiceless. She stands as a voice of God to the community and also finding herself as a voice of the lost unto the living God. I believe as a Christian I must be able to be a voice of God to those who cannot hear God. I manage to do this through the Voice of the Voiceless Outreach which is an NGO that reaches out to the less privileged through empowerment. I use my talents like writing books, prison motivational talks and writing music to reach out to those people and also through Cliff Kepaletswe’s RB2 Get Well Soon program. I also have an academy called Dawnbell Academy where I equip and assist students who have learning difficulties, offering tutoring and extra lessons and full-time lessons for the past students who did not do well in exams.
WHAT DOES BEING A CHRISTIAN MEAN TO YOU AND WHAT IS YOUR CALLING?
Being a Christian simply means being an ambassador of Christ, proclaiming and demonstrating his character so that people who don’t know Christ should be able to know who Christ is when they interact with you.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND?
I come from a very humble background. I was raised by a single mother because I lost my father at the age of four. I am the only girl in a family of six children and due to the death of my father I never had a good relationship with my mother because she was grieving the loss of her husband who died when she was only 29 years old. In my childhood I lived an isolated life also because I didn’t have much in common with my brothers. But I started enjoying my own space and overcame loneliness at a young age. During my alone times I thought quite a lot on who I wanted to become and some of those dreams have come true, the academy being one of them. I learnt that you can be alone and not be lonely, actually being alone is an opportunity to discover yourself. I discovered I was a writer at the age of nine and nobody around me knew because usually people will look at you and have an opinion about you. I have also never been in a romantic relationship, not because I am bitter or anything but I believe it is God who has preserved me. I have had men approach me for a relationship but because every one of them I had been shown the outcome of that probable marriage in a dream I would take the dream as a warning and not engage in that potential relationship. I know I will get married someday it may be soon or later, but the purpose that God has for me is different and I believe there is a greater purpose for my marriage hence why the long wait. At times I get worried that maybe I am abnormal due to the pressure I get from people but deep inside I am content and have peace.
HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU AUTHORED AND HOW ARE THE READERS RESPONDING TO YOUR WORK?
I have already written seven books and the latest one was launched in November 2016. These are generally books of hope and people do buy and read them quite a lot. They can be found at UB Bookstore and Bala Books and I also have stations around the country where people can buy the books from my agents.
WHERE DO YOU GET INSPIRATIONS FROM TO WRITE YOUR BOOKS?
I get the inspiration to write from my relationship with God and from my environment. All my books are trying to turn people’s hearts to God because people can still go to church yet their hearts are far away from God, but when we turn to God we will find true security, love and prosperity.
ARE YOU A GOSPEL SINGER AND TO WHAT LEVEL DO YOU MINISTER, DO YOU SING AT CHURCH OR MUSIC SHOWS?
I have two gospel albums, I love music and I sing to refresh my soul. I do not perform at music shows nor sing at church but I sing once in a while when there are special events. I think I am too shy to sing publicly!
ARE YOU STILL A RADIO PRESENTER AND HOW DID IT COME ABOUT?
Every Tuesday at 0040 hours I briefly speak a word of encouragement to the sick on RB2 Get Well Soon show, I initially thought because it is late at night people will not be listening but they do wait for that brief word and it is changing their lives. The feedback is always amazing and humbling.
WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
I am currently working on an annual business seminar on Financial Empowerment for the young people. On this seminar we empower the youth to find other means of making it in business instead of depending on government aid. I am also in the process of writing my 8th book which will be released in year 2017.
IT IS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW YEAR, SO WHAT DOES A NEW YEAR MEAN TO YOU?
A new year is a time of reflection and it is a second chance of improving on what you did not do well in the past year.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE WHICH CHRISTIANS ARE FACING NOW?
Christianity has become a religion as opposed to a kingdom. Jesus Christ brought us a kingdom not a religion, in a kingdom it is about the relationship with God because once we lose the relationship we will be canal and hence we will be no different from the world.
IF THERE WAS ANYTHING YOU HAD THE POWER TO CHANGE IN THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE AND WHY?
We need to change the church structures and go back to servanthood, now leaders are masters instead of being servants. Our generation wants to be served instead of being servants.
WHO IS YOUR INSPIRATION AND WHY?
In terms of character my mother is my role model but spiritually Jesus Christ is the one whom I look up to and he is the standard for me. There are great men and women of God who I admire but I do not want them to be the standard for my life because I might set the bar too low because we all have weaknesses.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY BIBLE VERSE?
ANY INSPIRATIONAL WORDS FOR OUR READERS?
Life is not all about our experiences but our expectations, we receive from God what we are expecting without being limited by what we are going through. Also in everything we must never lose hope.
I have read the Ndiko’s book, titled “Beyond the set margins” and I have loved it, indeed it is a good read short and straight to the point. Go to the mentioned bookstores to grab your copy or inbox her on facebook to make an order.
