Every now and then when we have a huge dream to achieve, we doubt if it will be possible to accomplish it. Sometimes even the people around you will also make you feel a bit crazy. My husband once jokingly said to me, I think I should take you to the psychiatrist to rule out craziness in you. But one assuring thing is that, the one who is faithful and just will see you through to accomplish what he started in you. You do not have to know how you will manage to achieve your dreams, but you need to know and trust the capability of the one who planted that vision in you. Every time when we doubt, we weaken the power that sustains us.
“‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’” Matthew 14:29-31
Doubt paralyses faith and can cause you to abort your dreams even when the Lord’s favor is with you. Peter was walking on water and he could see that indeed he was, but because his focus shifted he started sinking. He did not sink because Jesus was not powerful enough to perform the miracle for him, but he sank because his focus had moved from Jesus to the wind. If you allow the wind to take your focus from the prize you shall find yourself drowning. All Peter needed to do was to focus on Jesus and walk, the same applies to you, all you need is to focus on Jesus and walk towards your dream and it shall be fulfilled.
Every time you doubt you are stealing something from your dream. Doubt is like cancer, it eats you up on the inside and once the symptoms are seen outside it is already too late to get rid of. If you allow yourself to doubt then you must know that you have opened a window of failure. Doubt will paralyze you with fear and once fear has taken hold of you, the vision will be lost. Doubt is the greatest catalyst to failure!
You cannot control other people’s feelings about your dream but you have the power to control how you feel about it. Stay positive, believe that it is possible to achieve anything you put your mind to. Keep on keeping on even when the odds are against you. Be optimistic always and every time you feel doubtful remember the reason why you set that goal in the first place. It is not going to be easy sometimes, but your strength will come from having faith. Faith is an antidote of doubt.
Believe without a shadow of doubt that what you had planned will come to pass and that you shall overcome all the circumstances that are challenging you. Learn to counter the effects of doubt by encouraging yourself with scripture.
Now that you know how to stay courageous, we will talk more on the next stage next week.
